Check a license plate price against the market median before you buy or sell
A free license plate price calculator, no sign-up needed. Enter the plate number you are interested in and see the market median of comparable plates, based on the asking prices sellers have actually set in the market. We compare plates with the same number and adjust the price for your series. If you have been quoted a price, the system tells you whether it is cheap or expensive compared with the market median. The series is the Thai letters (often with a leading digit) before the number, like 1กก in 1กก 1234.

What you get from a price check
Every figure shown always comes with its source. There are no numbers we cannot explain.
Market median of comparable plates
Based on the asking prices sellers have actually posted for plates with the same number across many websites. Prices of plates in other series are adjusted to the equivalent of your series, then we take the median of the group. It is not a closing transaction price.
Know instantly if it is cheap or expensive
Enter the price the seller quoted you, and the system tells you whether it is below, within, or above the market median and by what percentage, with a bar showing where the price sits in the group.
Works even if the plate is not in our catalog
The system estimates from the series and number you enter, compares with plates of the same number in other series and adjusts for series. If that number is not available, it compares with the same number pattern. Choose Bangkok or upcountry to narrow it down. It states its confidence honestly, and if there is not enough data it says plainly that it will not estimate.
Lucky-number reading included
The plate's digit sum, digit pairs, ruling planets and Chinese beliefs, with every item broken down so you can see where the score comes from.
How this calculator estimates
It uses market comparison, a valuation method that works when there is no standard price, and tells you plainly which steps you need to check yourself.
Adjusts the price for the series
The letter series is the biggest price factor: the same number in different series can differ in price several times over. For example, in Bangkok, a series without a leading digit (กข) is priced about twice as high on average as a series with a leading digit (1กข). So the calculator adjusts the prices of plates in other series to the equivalent of your series, using ratios taken from real listing prices.
Keeps Bangkok and upcountry separate
They are different markets, and the same number can differ in price several times over, so they are never mixed. If you do not choose a zone, the system shows both zones side by side. After choosing upcountry, you can also pick a province.
Answers with a price range, not a single figure
It shows the market median, the typical price range, how many plates were compared, and which group was used. If there is not enough data, it says it will not estimate rather than guess.
The market median is an asking price
Agreed prices are usually lower because of negotiation and liquidity. Use this figure as a starting point for negotiation, not as the price you should pay.
Steps you need to check yourself
The plate's status
Has the auction price been paid in full? Has the plate been registered to a vehicle? How many days are left before the 180-day deadline? Do the province and vehicle type match your car? A standard plate obtained by reservation is tied to the vehicle and has almost no separate value.
Buy-back prices and the liquidity discount
If you plan to resell, ask several dealers for a buy-back price. This calculator does not estimate it, because there is no published data yet on how far below asking prices it is.
Digit sum and beliefs
The numerology digit sum is a secondary price factor. The calculator shows the digit sum on the result page but does not add it to or subtract it from the market median.

Price check FAQ
- How is the market median calculated?
- From the prices sellers post publicly on many websites. We take plates with the same number in the same market, adjust the prices of plates in other series to the equivalent of your series, and find the median. This figure is an asking price for reference, not a closing transaction price. The result page has a section you can expand to check the method.
- The result says the price is above the market median. Does that mean I am being ripped off?
- Not necessarily. The market median is only a point of comparison. A popular letter series, a rare plate or the state of negotiations can make the real price differ from the median. Use this result to support your negotiation, not as a verdict.
- Can I check a plate that is not in your catalog?
- Yes. The system estimates from the series and number you enter, compares with plates of the same number in other series and adjusts the price for series. If there are no plates with that number yet, it compares with plates of the same number pattern and states its confidence in that range. Choosing Bangkok or upcountry narrows it down. If the group has too little data, the system says plainly that it cannot estimate yet, and it will not guess.
- Is the market median the price I should pay?
- No. The market median is the median of asking prices, which already include dealer margins, so it sits nearer the top of the price range than the bottom. Agreed prices and buy-back prices are usually lower. Use it as a starting point for negotiation, then check the plate's status and get prices from several sellers.
- Why can the same number differ in price several times over?
- Because the letter series is the biggest price factor for the same number. Old two-letter series are no longer issued, so they are genuinely rare, and doubled letters and series whose leading digit matches the plate number are also priced high by the market. That is why the calculator always starts by comparing plates in the same series.
- Are DLT auction closing prices included in the market median?
- No, because they are a different kind of price from asking prices. We show the auction results we have collected separately on the matching plate pages. All the latest auction results are on the official auction website of the Department of Land Transport (DLT).
- Do I need to enter my birth day?
- The price check does not use your birth day. If you want a number that suits your birth day, use our separate birth-day lucky number tool.
- Can I check motorcycle plates?
- Not yet. This tool checks car plates only. Three-letter motorcycle series are rejected with an explanation.
