The short answer: this year has no single number for everyone
The most direct answer to which numbers are lucky in 2027 (B.E. 2570) is this: no Thai text sets one lucky number for this year that applies to everyone. The numbers Thai texts have always used to judge are the Taksa (ทักษา) numbers of your birth day, which are the same set every year and do not change with the zodiac year.
Websites or media that announce that the lucky number of 2027 is a particular number usually take it from the sum of the year's digits, from a planet number that stands out that year, or from Chinese numerology, and each school arrives at a different answer. This article shows where each number comes from and which ones deserve weight first.
As of the time of writing, the full 2027 annual forecasts from each school of astrologers have not yet been released. They are usually published between the end of the year and Songkran. This article therefore focuses on what can be calculated and checked, and does not present any school's forecast as fact.
Basic facts about 2027
B.E. 2570, which corresponds to 2027 CE, is the Year of the Goat (ปีมะแม). By the Thai astrological calendar, Maha Songkran Day (วันมหาสงกรานต์) falls on Wednesday 14 April 2027, the year's Songkran goddess (นางสงกรานต์) is Nang Monthathewi (นางมณฑาเทวี), and Thaloeng Sok Day (วันเถลิงศก) falls on Friday 16 April 2027, the day the Chula Sakarat era (จุลศักราช) changes from 1388 to 1389.
On the Chinese side, 2027 is a Ding Wei (ติงเว่ย) year. The stem Ding is Yin Fire, so it is known as the year of the Fire Goat. Chinese New Year falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, while Lichun (ลิชุน), which the Bazi (ปาจื่อ) school uses as the turn of the year, falls on 4 February 2027. The traditional Songkran announcement carries a yearly prediction written in archaic textual language and should not be read literally.

Year numbers that come from adding up the digits
The most common method is to add every digit of the year B.E. 2570: 2 plus 5 plus 7 plus 0 equals 14, then add again to get 5. Using 2027 CE instead gives 2 plus 0 plus 2 plus 7 equals 11, which reduces to 2. In this site's digit sum table, a sum of 14 is grade A, which the texts interpret as brisk trade and money flowing well, while a sum of 5 is grade C, interpreted as the shade of the bodhi and banyan trees (ร่มโพธิ์ร่มไทร), meaning protection from patrons.
Understand that this is a symbolic calculation, not an astrologer's forecast, and neither 5 nor 2 is good for everyone. The table below shows which position these two numbers fall in for each birth day. A number that is Kalakini (กาลกิณี) for a given birth day should not be held up as a lucky number for people born on that day. Always put your own Taksa before the year's number.
There is one observation some people use to link the number 5 to this year: after Songkran, Wednesday is the Ubat day (วันอุบาทว์, an inauspicious day), and Thursday, whose planet is number 5, becomes the Thongchai day (วันธงชัย, a day of victory). This is a symbolic interpretation. No Thai text officially sets 5 as the number of the year.
| Birth day | 5 (from the sum of B.E. 2570) | 2 (from the sum of 2027 CE) |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday | Utsaha | Ayu |
| Monday | Mula | Boriwan |
| Tuesday | Sri | Kalakini |
| Wednesday (daytime) | Det | Montri |
| Wednesday (night) | Kalakini | Sri |
| Thursday | Boriwan | Mula |
| Friday | Montri | Det |
| Saturday | Ayu | Utsaha |
Boosting and Kalakini numbers by birth day, valid all through 2027
This table holds the numbers actually used to judge by Taksa. Find the row for your birth day. Boriwan (บริวาร, self and circle), Sri (ศรี, fortune) and Montri (มนตรี, patrons) are the fortune-boosting numbers under this site's criteria, while Det (เดช, power) is a position some schools also count as a strong number for authority. Kalakini is the number the texts advise avoiding.
If you are choosing a plate this year, start by ruling out your own Kalakini, then look for Sri, Montri or Boriwan numbers in the last two digits. All of this is the same every year. 2027 does not change the table.
| Birth day | Boriwan | Sri | Montri | Det (counted by some schools) | Kalakini (avoid) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday | 1 | 4 | 8 | 3 | 6 |
| Monday | 2 | 7 | 6 | 4 | 1 |
| Tuesday | 3 | 5 | 1 | 7 | 2 |
| Wednesday (daytime) | 4 | 8 | 2 | 5 | 3 |
| Wednesday (night) | 8 | 2 | 7 | 1 | 5 |
| Thursday | 5 | 1 | 4 | 6 | 7 |
| Friday | 6 | 3 | 5 | 2 | 8 |
| Saturday | 7 | 6 | 3 | 8 | 4 |
The number 9 and Period 9 in Chinese numerology
According to the Chinese Flying Stars system, 2027 CE has star 9 at the centre of the annual chart, and it also falls within Period 9, which runs from 2024 to 2043. This site therefore adds a few points in its Chinese numerology section when the last digit of a plate is 9, 1 or 8.
Chinese and Thai numerology are separate systems, so their results need not agree. What is worth knowing is that 9 is outside the Taksa wheel, so under Taksa it is not Kalakini for anyone's birth day. People who like the number 9 need not worry about Kalakini from this digit.
How to apply this to a plate in 2027
First, check which day you were born on. If it was a Wednesday, separate daytime from night, then note down your Kalakini number. Second, rule out plates with Kalakini digits or consonants. Third, compare the market median of the plates that remain. This site has a birth-day lucky number page and a page for each birth day with plates already filtered for you.
There is no reason to pay more than the market median just because a plate contains the year's number. Clashing years (ปีชง) and auspicious days for taking delivery of a car are covered separately in the articles on the 2027 clash year and auspicious car delivery times for 2027.

FAQ on this topic
What is the real lucky number for 2027?
Thai texts set no single number for everyone. The numbers that actually apply are your Boriwan, Sri and Montri numbers under the Taksa of your birth day, while avoiding your own birth day's Kalakini.
Which numbers should people born in a Goat year avoid in 2027?
The texts do not set forbidden numbers by zodiac year. When your birth year matches the current year, Chinese texts consider it a year to be careful about major changes. For numbers, keep following the Taksa of your birth day as usual.
Should I change my plate this year?
No text requires it. If your current plate does not hit the owner's Kalakini and you are comfortable with it, there is no need to change. Changing plates involves costs and paperwork, so read the article on the cost of changing plates before you decide.
