Colours and directions come from the same planets as Taksa
Taksa (ทักษา) is not only about digits and consonants. Each planet also has its own colour and direction. Once you know which planet holds each position, you can read off the colour and direction of that position straight away. Sri (ศรี) is the colour of fortune, Det (เดช) the colour of power, Montri (มนตรี) the colour of senior patrons, and Kalakini (กาลกิณี) the colour the texts advise using least.
Our content team calculated the tables in this article from the Taksa table and the most common planet colours and directions. They are not copied from any single text, so they may not match other articles that pick different shades or group things differently.
Lucky colours by birth day
In the most common set, the planet colours are: Sun red, Moon yellow or cream, Mars pink, Mercury green, Jupiter orange or vermilion, Venus sky blue or navy, Saturn purple or black, and Rahu grey or dark brown. Matching them with the positions for each birth day gives the table below.
To read it, find the row for your birth day. The colours in the Sri, Det and Montri columns are the colours the texts consider fortune-boosting, while the colour in the Kalakini column is the one to avoid as a main colour.
| Birth day | Sri colour (fortune) | Det colour (power) | Montri colour (patrons) | Kalakini colour (avoid) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday | Green | Pink | Grey or dark brown | Sky blue or navy |
| Monday | Purple or black | Green | Sky blue or navy | Red |
| Tuesday | Orange or vermilion | Purple or black | Red | Yellow or cream |
| Wednesday (daytime) | Grey or dark brown | Orange or vermilion | Yellow or cream | Pink |
| Wednesday (night) | Yellow or cream | Red | Purple or black | Orange or vermilion |
| Thursday | Red | Sky blue or navy | Green | Purple or black |
| Friday | Pink | Yellow or cream | Orange or vermilion | Grey or dark brown |
| Saturday | Sky blue or navy | Grey or dark brown | Pink | Green |
Auspicious directions by birth day
By ancient tradition, each planet has its own direction: the Sun the northeast (อีสาน), the Moon the east (บูรพา), Mars the southeast (อาคเนย์), Mercury the south (ทักษิณ), Saturn the southwest (หรดี), Jupiter the west (ประจิม), Rahu the northwest (พายัพ) and Venus the north (อุดร).
The table below follows the same principle as the colour table. The Sri direction is the one the texts consider to bring fortune, while the Kalakini direction is the one advised against for auspicious undertakings.
| Birth day | Sri direction | Det direction | Montri direction | Kalakini direction (avoid) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday | South (ทักษิณ) | Southeast (อาคเนย์) | Northwest (พายัพ) | North (อุดร) |
| Monday | Southwest (หรดี) | South (ทักษิณ) | North (อุดร) | Northeast (อีสาน) |
| Tuesday | West (ประจิม) | Southwest (หรดี) | Northeast (อีสาน) | East (บูรพา) |
| Wednesday (daytime) | Northwest (พายัพ) | West (ประจิม) | East (บูรพา) | Southeast (อาคเนย์) |
| Wednesday (night) | East (บูรพา) | Northeast (อีสาน) | Southwest (หรดี) | West (ประจิม) |
| Thursday | Northeast (อีสาน) | North (อุดร) | South (ทักษิณ) | Southwest (หรดี) |
| Friday | Southeast (อาคเนย์) | East (บูรพา) | West (ประจิม) | Northwest (พายัพ) |
| Saturday | North (อุดร) | Northwest (พายัพ) | Southeast (อาคเนย์) | South (ทักษิณ) |
How to use them with your car and plate
For the car itself, the texts recommend your Sri or Det colour for the body, while your Montri colour suits accessories such as seat covers, key rings or interior decorations. If the car colour you like matches your Kalakini colour, the texts lay down no rule. A popular option is to use it as a secondary colour rather than the main one.
The colour of the license plate itself is set by vehicle type and the owner cannot choose it, so there is no need to worry about plate colour. Use Taksa only to read the letters and digits on the plate.
Directions serve as a guide for where to park, which way your front door faces or which way you sit at work. They are not a rule the texts set specifically for cars, and you should not go as far as moving house because of a direction.
When the texts disagree
Colours and directions are an area where schools choose very different shades and names. Some Chinese feng shui schools give red, purple and pink as the standout colours of 2027, a reading based on star 9 and the fire element. That is a separate system from Thai Taksa.
Some sources use a different set of directions for the deity of each day, which does not match the planet directions in this table. Do not mix the two sets. If these colours match your Kalakini colour under Taksa, follow the system you trust and stick with one system throughout. Mixing two systems usually makes decisions harder without making them better. All of this is belief, chosen for peace of mind.

FAQ on this topic
The car colour I like is my Kalakini colour. Should I change it?
The texts do not require it. A popular option is to use it as a secondary colour rather than the main one, or to choose a shade slightly different from the Kalakini colour. If you are comfortable with that colour, you can use it, since all of this is belief.
Are the lucky colours for Wednesday daytime and Wednesday night different?
Yes. They use different birth-day planets: Wednesday daytime uses Mercury and Wednesday night uses Rahu. Their Taksa tables are different sets, so their colours and directions differ too.
